A brilliantly titled collector's release — The King in the G.O.A.T.'s Hometown captures Elvis Presley live at Freedom Hall, Louisville, Kentucky on 23rd July 1976. The title is a nod to Muhammad Ali, Louisville's most famous son and widely regarded as the Greatest Of All Time — making this a show where one legend performed in the hometown of another.
This is Elvis deep into his final touring years, delivering a 28-track set with characteristic showmanship. Highlights include a double performance of Hurt (takes 1 and 2), a stirring America The Beautiful, and extended band showcases from Ron Tutt, Jerry Scheff, Tony Brown, and David Briggs. The inclusion of Love Letters and Funny How Time Slips Away adds some welcome variety to the classic setlist staples.
